Happy Birthday Grammy

Grammy came to visit the weekend before last as part of her birthday present to herself. Zoe was very excited to see her again (as were her mom and dad)! Zoe had lots of fun picking out Grammy's new charm, walking around Los Gatos, visiting her first winery, and snuggling with Grammy.

Grammy took care of mom and dad, cooking us breakfast, making us dessert treats, and cleaning our pit stain of an apartment. All of us miss her already (especially mommy's belly) !

Hello again!

Some "firsts"

Mining through the hundreds of pictures we've taken of Zoe and found some we haven't posted of some of her "firsts".

Bath time with Momma and Papa. She's officially been given the green light for a big girl bath, but we have yet to try one. She loves her sponge baths and lotion rubs with Mom.

Her first bottle of Mom's milk. Taking the bottle was no problem, except that it wasn't enough. She sucked down 4oz. in about 2 minutes flat and screamed when it was done. Another oz. and another minute and still not happy. The second picture says it all...

Zoe's getting stronger and stronger. She's not quite under full control of her head, but she holds it up for long stretches at a time. We've sat her up on her boppie on occasion to play with her. She looks like such a big girl!

This wasn't her first visit to the park, but it was a cute picture in the outfit from U. Mark and A. Amy...

Happy Birthday GGS

Today was Great Grandma Shirley's birthday. She bought Zoe her bouncy, and as you can see in the video, she loves it. We've always used the bouncy to help calm Zoe when she's a little fuss bucket, but in the past couple days, she's figured out that kicking and waving her arms causes the music to go. Now it doesn't stop!

New Favorite Pictures

Full body shot... Zoe loves her fist and is continuing to try to find her thumb.

We really love this one.

2 Month Checkup

Zoe had her 2 month check-up today, along with her first round of vaccinations. She's tipping the scales at a dainty 11lbs 9oz and is 22.5" long. Needless to say, she takes after her mom and doesn't miss many feedings (and she'll make sure you know she's hungry). It was an all around healthy check-up for our little girl. She did get mad when they put silver nitrate on her belly button granuloma and she made sure to let us know she didn't like the needles. After all that, the car seat finally didn't seem so bad and she took a big long nap!

Over the past couple weeks, Zoe has started to smile more and more, especially in the morning, and especially (for some reason) on her changing table. I'll spend 15 minutes changing her after her morning feeding while Kate pumps playing with her on the changing table. Luckily, it hasn't rained or thunder stormed yet! She's starting to stare and follow us around with her eyes, coo and talk while she plays, hold her head up high when she's on her tummy, and she still loves her snuggles. But her favorite thing right now is to search for her fist, hold it nice and close to her face and stare at it, start to suck on it, then fling her hand away and get very mad because her fist isn't there.

After several tries over several days, we finally caught some smiles on camera...

Aunt Karen had given Zoe an Abby doll. Amanda had one as well and Aunt Karen and Uncle Tim used to take pictures of Amanda with Abby to see how she grew. I don't know if we'll be that on top of it, but we did try to get a picture.

Not so bad...

More like her cousin Catie's early treatment of dolls...

Holding her head up super high!

Zoe Update

Two weeks ago Zoe and I started attending the Mommy and Me group at our hospital. It's every Monday at 10 am and a chance to catch up with other Moms and listen to a guest speaker. This Monday I get to learn about stroller fitness :-)

Zoe is growing fast! At 5 weeks, Zoe weighed 10 lbs 7 oz with her clothes on at the Mommy and Me class. Her 2 month well visit is next Tuesday.

Zoe has an umbilical granuloma that appeared when her cord fell off at 5 weeks and we are waiting for it to dry up and disappear before she can have her first real bath. I think she might be able to sit up by the time she is able to take a bath!!

Yesterday, I walked in to pick Zoe up from her nap and she was face down in her swaddle. She has gotten out of the swaddle and rolled over onto her arm twice before that, so we are now swaddling with arms out. Zoe likes to sleep on her right side...

Here are a few pictures I have taken over the last couple weeks:

My favorite... isn't she too cute!

Aunt Karen

Aunt Karen came to visit over a long weekend a couple weeks back. It was the longest she had been away from Amanda to date and Zoe felt very lucky to get her undivided attention. Aunt Karen brought her own bit of Texas love to California for Zoe. She was rocked to sleep by "Who Let the Dog's Out" with a southern drawl while Mom chowed on some enchilada soup. We also were treated to some spicy BBQ beef and egg casserole while she was out. (Uncle Tim has a tough act to follow when he visits)

Here are some pictures from her visit.

Why hello!

Another snuggle body (I mean buddy)

We all took a walk to the park one morning and Aunt Karen took some of our first family pictures.

It started off well enough with a little nibbling...

Still holding steady...

And we're done...

Snuggling with Catie

Still catching up from my parents visit. This was down at Mark & Amy's after they spent all day vinegarizing their whole house. This was probably the longest Catie sat still the whole time we were down there.
